Indiana Stamp Wins BBB Award for Trust
Indiana Stamp was named the winner of the Northern Indiana Better Business Bureau's 2010 Torch Award for Marketplace Ethics among employers with 26 to 200 employees. Indiana Stamp, based in Fort Wayne, employs 35 people.
"This is an honor to be shared by all our employees," says Tom Beaver, CEO. "We've developed our reputation the old-fashioned waywe've earned it, order by order, decision by decision. We appreciated our loyal customers and all that our employees do to help maintain our integrity and high levels of service."
This award exemplifies fair and ethical business practices that are in compliance with voluntary BBB advertising and selling standards. "Judges were most impressed by Indiana Stamp's record of outstanding customer service," says BBB President and CEO Mike Coil.
Companies were judged on the following criteria:
- Examples of ethics policies that are effectively communicated to give long-term value to shareholders and customers.
- Training programs that help employees understand and abide by the company's principles.
- Customer/vendor letters, awards, newspaper articles and so forth that reflect the company's commitment to business ethics.
- Examples of marketing, advertising and sales practices that communicate a true representation of products and services.
- Programs or activities in which the firm's principles or employees have been involved for the betterment of its industry or community.
During the past 62 years Indiana Stamp has made its mark, not just in northeastern Indiana but around the world. The company's United RIBtype division exports RIBtype® rubber type to more than 30 countries. Indiana Stamp also makes custom bands and band stamps, stencils and specialized stamps for rubber stamp manufacturers in the United States. It is also the authorized dealer for Shiny stamp products in the Midwest.
The company's stamps have been used to mark armored parts for Humvees that transport U.S. troops in Iraq and for the U.S. space station that orbits the earch.
The company delights in the fact that most businesses in the Fort Wayne area use some product it makes, including rubber stamps, namebadges, architectural signage, awards and recognition products. Founded in 1947 by Don and Lucille Bieber, the company remains locally owned with second- and third-generation family members actively involved.
Ironically, Indiana Stamp engraved all the awards for the winners and the owners never knew they had won until the ceremony took place. Obviously, Indiana Stamp employs people who know how to keep a secret.
